I am taking a course on using Suffix Trees for data mining in natural language. I like that stuff, reminds of binary search trees -- it is really cool coming up with such a structure to solve some task more efficiently (or even solve it at all). Through Suffix Trees it might be possible to search for lots of different patterns in a text. Maybe some large-scale corpus-analysis might be possible with this. But what to search for that can't be searched for with other means? Well, let's see.
