Walls and Opposition
Date: 2006-03-31 | Tagged: programming
Why is everybody tearing up walls in the programming world? What's wrong and unusual in liking all Java, Ruby, XML, Eclipse and Bash? Reminds me of some old entries... now included...
- Ruby/Lisp/Python/Perl vs. Java/C++/C#/Pascal
- above actually is dynamic vs. static typing
- XML vs. other delimiters
- IDE vs. Shell
- Eclipse vs. NetBeans
- Pascal-Style vs. C-Style
- Emacs vs. vi
- Academics vs. Hackers
- Academics vs. Professionals
- Lisp-Academics vs. OO-Academics
Maybe the reason is simply that for many people once they are comfortable with one language or similar they never want to learn anything more and shape the world according to their ideas. Or maybe someone in fact is right and I just didn't get the clue yet... But one thing is obviuos: There is no Eclipse in the Ruby world and there is no Rails in the Java world, just to mention one each...
Can't we just all be friends :D
